Delis and restaurants throw away a lot of 4 gallon tubs. Cleaned throughly, they will store a lot of water in a small space.

A big laundry detergent jug with the cap on and bottom cut off makes a good water scoop. That plus a big funnel lets you fill watering cans of gallon milk jugs.

I pulled a clean garden hose into the growing area indoors, filled all the 4-gallon tubs, and then didn't need the hose again for a long time.

But clean them well first!
