Most common PVC 10' or 20" will easily bend. We use 18" or 24" rebar diven into the ground to anchor each piece of PVC. We've done 8' wide beds with 10' sticks of 3/4" PVC for low tunnel hoophouses (covered with 6-mil clear sheet plastic) the last two winters, with very good success. We will use 13' wide walk-in hoophouses this fall. We live in NW GA and had two 4-8" wet snows. I almost cried when the hoophouses creaked and bent under the weight. The next day, they stood back up, much to our delight! We will make a smaller version for our cats, who love to play on them, and get into them to nap in the warmth. So... PVC will bend with a little tension.
