We don't get much fall color around here but many of the trees had prematurely (in August, in some cases) dropped their leaves or else turned completely brown as if it were December. Interestingly some of the trees that I feared were dead or dying because of the drought, were apparently just dormant. The Bradford pears (dreadful things that they are) are now putting on leaves and blooming! I can't tell for sure yet, but I am pretty sure that oaks and pecans that look dead actually are.
The pastures with Bermuda or Bahia grass in them are showing a slight tint of green, but the native grasses have not recovered. It is amazing what one brief rain can do!
