I do the same! Works like a charm.
But, why stop at the fingernails. If I get pretty dirty I'll turn the hose on my whole bod...I'll tell ya, if you're working in the yard in 110 degree heat a good rinsing will happen more than once in an hour. Just need to remember to take off my glasses.
