I know it's not exactly the same, but in our heat of summer, when it's 115-118+ degrees, it's a good time to grow houseplants, or force some bulbs. So get you some houseplants to help ease the pain. Some African Violets might do very well in your kitchen window, and bloom for you, or one of the other beautiful foliage houseplants from the African violet family. Don't let the cold get you down, bring the green in. Our summer is your winter. All I can stand to do in the Summer here in AZ is mow the yard, and that alone drains the strength right out of me. Of course, I found a way around that too. I mow my yard at 6:00AM in the morning, before the heat truly sets in. I'm sure my neighbors love me for that...lol! But in the 20 years I've lived here, no complaints yet. I don't know how they get out there at 1:00PM and mow the yard, it's too darn hot for me.
