I'm going to open up another possibility of those wanting to enjoy this short (in some regions) growing season. The Dream Team. Those would be we gardeners who dreams and good intentions of (having) set out seeds to plant during this season prior to our cold, those who would visit a nursery to purchase the bountiful color of pansies etc., those would be plan to re-plant their hanging baskets, etc. The Dream Team who may have to be satisfied with the riot of color in our brains ... until we really get down on our knees to do the planting. May not happen until Spring because we face the Freeze in late Dec-Jan.
I'm in the Winter planting team. I will plant loads of color, re store my baskets and large pots, water and fertilize in this 65-85 degree heat (I LOVE Fall in Arizona). I will be totally aware that the usual freeze of 2-4 days will wipe out my mature color in late Dec. and into January. The cold and wind may last only 2 weeks but it's a killer. When it's all over I do it again. Soooooo, we sort of get two Springs.... the nurseries benefit $$$
