Thanks Janet, my first thought was exactly Veronica spicata, but after googling pictures I came back on that, because the flower spikes are so densely covered with flowers, while mine has the very tiny flowers widely apart along the spike..
Could it be a mall nourished veronica spicata perhaps? Hilarious!
