Every once in a while this rears its head. This morning while browsing at our local garden center, I spotted a plumeria in the back row that was intriguing. It was behind a bunch of Dwarf Pink Singapores, and right next to some Pudicas, and the guy who runs the place said they came from the same supplier.
We made our way back there and the tag said 'Pink Pudica' - the tag also said $ 99.- which is why I didn't buy one but I did get a leaf and the (virus affected) flower. Some of the Dwarf Pink Singapores were also displaying the virus....
It looked to me like this was a grafted plant but the graft was way down.
Many of the P. pudica characteristics in evidence, including leaf shape, but the leaves were quite thick and leathery, and not shiny. No rust.
If there was a scent, it was too slight to detect.
Stem was somewhat thicker than P. pudica but still looked very much like its parent, including the free branching. All in all an intriguing plant.
Buds, by the way, were pure dark pink.
I was very tempted to take a piece but the guy was standing right next to me... so I restrained myself. Might go back though...
