I wonder if the carriers you get at the nursery would work?? The 4 inch pot holders/trays that hold a dozen pots or the plain tray with no division that's about 16x16.... maybe cut down and reinforced.

*edit: whoopsie. I see Tee already sorta touched on that idea.
