Reminds me of a woman I once knew casually when I was younger. She had been blind from birth. One day as I left her (I was moving from Louisville to WKY and wouldn't see her often anymore) she said, "Would you mind if I touched your face before you leave?"
I didn't mind at all, and after, she said: "I like to 'see' my beautiful friends."
So even if we haven't met our friends here, Nancy, we can all 'see our beautiful friends' through their words.
