Charter ATP Member I was one of the first 300 contributors to the plant database!
I did a bit of a google search on them and found some links that could be helpful. It appears with a bit of care they can be grown outdoors in Texas. They say they're deciduous, so probably arriving leafless is natural for your time of year.
