I'm team both, too. As the years go by, and I get older, I'm trying to lean more and more on perennials, always looking for long-lived and long-blooming choices.

I grow a lot of my plants from seed, mostly wintersown. Perennials can be expensive to buy as plants, but worth it to me for special selections not available from seed.

Still, a summer without a few annuals like coleus, zinnias, and alyssum would be unthinkable.
