well
i have not grown from seed but there are very great cross breeds that others on atp have done and most do not all revert back to red /small flowers. take a look at gone2seed crosses you can get one of a kind flowers NEVER been produced how do you think they have ended up with 100's of different kinds??
The thread "crosses" in
Amaryllis and Hippeastrum forum Next the 2.00 sale i dont think those are nicest kinds by any means and i say they are just the basic original ones. T he nicest ones run on my sale before Christmas 6-9.00 and most sights 11.00-25.00 per bulb. 'Papillio' is a small bulb to start with the ones i sold where 1/2 the size of a big red lion mother bulb BUT it did produce 2 spikes 4 flowers each and my cost was 8.95 before shipping. most of the bulbs seeds i have already have ripened and opened on there own and its been 2 months i have grown them down here in Florida in the grown for 14 yrs they bloom in spring not Christmas time and seeds fly naturally in no more then 3 months at the very most. I don't know how many i will try to grow but im giving away and not charging 100"s of seeds and if someone like gone2seed told me they had some they crossed i would like to try to get something new. the biggest thing is to make sure you are pollinating crosses that are interesting and you might have some turn out less desirable but i believe a true plant lover likes the challenge of creating a new kind or going and nurchering something from seed. all of mine someone already asked for them they have a blog and like 125 different ones and have a list of people that can not afford bulbs so this is a way to get flowers for nothing but love and care. thanks for your thoughts
blessed be
