ssgardener: I know what you mean. At one time I had five cats in the household and for some reason only one of them was insistent on munching on my houseplants. She seemed to think it was her own private salad bar! I tried a spray bottle with water which worked for a very short time, then she got to the point where she thought that was a game and would stand next to the plant stand and stare at me with the water sprayer in my hand. If I saw her bite a leaf I'd spray her and she'd run away. But within minutes she'd come back, sit down right next to the plant, look right at me and squint her eyes waiting for me to spray her again.

I've always grown cat mint (catnip) and cat grass (which I think is rye seed) for my cats, and all the other felines loved it but that one cat was stubborn and only wanted my house plants! She didn't have a preference for a particular plant either, she wanted to chew any and all of them. I finally had to banish her for life from the room where the plants were located. I also had hundreds of container and hanging plants on the deck and she was allowed out there but only with supervision, LOL. Some felines can be quite stubborn and I used to think that cat was quite stupid for eating something that made her sick but she was really a pretty smart kitty. I don't know why she would continue to chew on plants unless it was just a habit/addiction she couldn't break. The one old kitty remaining in my family now has never attempted to munch on any plant.
