Hi Brian: Welcome! And I've got a lily or two growing around here too. I'm pretty low seniority around here myself, but in the short time I've been here I've found the regular participants are the most knowledgable, friendly, and devoted to the hobby of lilium growing I've ever encountered!
An acquaintance of mine in California tells me that Trumpets, Aurelians and Asiatics do better for him (than Orientals, etc.) Have you ever noticed that? He lives in Stevinson, a little southeast of San Fran. Just curious.
