I'm one who is guilty of using both the symbol and spelling out the word, I don't know why I don't stick to just one ... I should be more consistent.

I see metric being used more and more and I always have to google to find the equivalent in inches, feet etc. I'm old and doubt that I could ever learn/remember the metric system ... but, I think it would sure make it easier if the entire world over used the same system.
