I would guess you could leave them in the ground with plenty of mulch. Doesn't sound like your ground gets a serious freeze in TN.
The seeds are fun! The first year I gardened, I planted 50 dahlia seeds, thinking maybe 10 would germinate...I had 49 and no clue what to do next!
