Jan,
I was outside late in the evening, admiring the stars, when your migrating geese flew over at a high altitude. I'm used to flocks of a few hundred, and that's musical enough, but the flocks that went over the other night numbered in the thousands, maybe tens of thousands. All Canada geese, maybe a few snow geese. The noise was incredible! I listened to one continuous flock for more than 10 minutes. Such a beautiful sound! We've had a few species visiting this past week that we don't normally see, so that's a clue the ducks and geese think winter is over. Yesterday we had coots on the pond, and the day before it was a beautiful black and white duck...still need to look that one up. lovely blue bills on those.
I love this time of year. All the birds seem busier and happier.
Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get.
