When you search for a genus by exact name, it will not perform the search but instead redirect you over to the list of plants that match that genus. Synonyms are not considered in that list.

But if you do a search for more than just a genus (say, a genus + species) then you should see the Symplocarpus foetidus in your search.

Maybe we should disable the feature that sends you to the "Browse by genus" page when you search for a genus.
