Thanks Karen and Brian! Finally a name for this lovely tree.. Big Grin I'll take the Black Poplar name for it, and further links gave me the proper term for the flowers, called catkins..ahh learning something new everyday! Big Grin The tree could also be a Black Italian Poplar...at the very least it is a Poplar!

Love this tree, though I must admit such a chore when it sheds the leaves, catkins, leaf kernels...but gives us much needed summer shade, some privacy and play area for the local birds Big Grin
