Heres a couple of photos of the daylilies with the short scapes and the fans that have shrank and split that I was talking about. If you click to enlarge them you can see it better

Here's one with the fans that have shrank but divided.

If you notice the larger fan in the back to the left, the small fans in the front used to be one fan like the one in the back. It decided to split into 5-6 fans and shrink.
