I have had the senecio for years too and we had a colder winter here at the new house than what it's been used to, did great. No signs of damage. I left everything out, no pampering. If it survived, great. If not, oh well, I have another plant to takes it's place.
I do have an overhang front porch and all my cane begonias were left out there, some lost their leaves but all should recover with warmer weather and fertilizer.
