Well, I can't provide pros/cons but I do use "used" potting soil in the raised beds.

I use a good potting soil and when I start new plants next season, I start with fresh in containers. I add the old soil to the existing raised beds.

I have four raised beds and am building the fifth, all for vegetables but one which is berries.

So far I have not encountered any problems. Kristi
