Hi Pippi,

Daylilies can be so inexpensive from some growers that you do not need to wait for a 'sale'! Sales would be good for some more expensive daylilies. I think anything $10 and under in expensive (as compared to the show they give you in the garden). IN your area, don't look so much for repeat blooms which might sound tempting, but for good bud count and branching. Some daylilies repeat in the south, west and midwest.

Try to view the daylilies instead of buying from a picture, but there are a lot of growers online that will fufill your every dream!

There should be a daylily club fairly close to you.
As well, there is at least on active daylily grower that you might want to get in touch with. She is part of AHS (daylily society). Betty Jean Chrighton or en. If you contacted her, I am sure she will give you ideas of clubs in the area and how to get local daylilies. Usuall in the spring and in the fall, members donate tables full of daylilies. At those sales, be early and be quick!

You have started off with some nice ones. Mary Todd is an older but award winning daylily. '78 I think?

And Frans Hals is a later long blooming orange and gold that I just featured in an article!

I dig lots of clumps of daylilies for my local customers for about $12. Maybe someone around you does the same.

BTW, I have never heard of Schreiners. When you buy from a catalog or large grower, make sure that they are freshly dug, field grown daylilies. Most are sold as double fans (two plant attached) or mini clumps. DF, CL
