Polly: Someone suggested to me that the first one is Florentina. I googled it and came up with this Iris site. It is a match for mine so at least I know now what it is. Your spot on for historical daylilies.

The second one they thought could be Kochii? But I haven't found a good photo match yet. But then again, purples are so similar they start to all look the same.
