Things are starting to rev up here, the spring has been very garden-user-friendly and I've been harvesting asparagus for a couple of weeks and have planted some onion sets and broccoli plants, as well as the garlic being about a foot tall already. Tomatoes and peppers have been potted up and are in the greenhouse, today I took my onion plants out of the 6-packs that I started them in and separated them into groups of about 20 plants in 3-inch pots. I share a lot of plants with friends and family and have something like 80 tomatoes, 100 peppers, and 675 onion plants, to say nothing of 4 flats of petunias, various herbs, and a few other flowers that I started from seed just for me. Still have to pot up the celery, tomorrow I hope, and get some more lettuce started in the GH, as well as getting the carrots, beets, chard, radishes and rutabagas planted in the garden. Forgot to say that I also have some bush beans started in large 6-packs out in the GH that I'll plant out in a couple of weeks, and have peas already planted in the garden and up a couple of inches. Whew -- no wonder I'm tired tonight... but I did have time to observe today that the monarchs are starting to return, might be a bit premature as I haven't seen any milkweed emerging yet, but I have to assume they know what they're doing! At least they have dandelions and daffodils to feed on...
Hope everyone is enjoying nice weather and we all have our best gardening season ever!
