This is a new hosta this year. Sagae. There are several other new ones in the same area, but this is the only one with damage.
I have not seen any slug "trails" any where around it. I am not a hosta expert - but have grown them for about 20 years. I don't recall ever seeing damage that looks like this.
I was thinking slugs eat smaller holes, not huge chunks.
I have looked all over the ground, leaves etc. and can't find any caterpillars or any other sign of any pest. My dog did find a rabbit nest 20 feet from this plant, but it does not look like rabbit damage to me either.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
