I had several plants last year whose leaves turned brown, almost dead looking. I lifted a leave up and underneath I thought I saw some bugs. fSo, I took a piece of paper, put it under the leaf and jiggled the leaf. Sure enough I had all these little tiny miniscule bugs fall on the piece of paper.I believe they were spider mites, so I sprayed and that helped.
