Thanks for the input on this one. I'm going to mark this thread "Done" because upon further research I'm pretty much convinced that my plant in question is definitely Richardia and more than likely R. brasiliensis, commonly called Tropical Mexican Clover. It's found all over the state of Florida ... click on Fullscreen Slideshow at the upper right of this page to view photo's of this plant for comparison:
