If it is Ruellia, depending on where you're located, it's either a "feed", or as in my area, an aggressive self-seeding perennial (annual north) even if it is a Texas Superstar (dwarf form 'Katie' only). The species gets about 3'-4' and has underground runners and well as seeds. The dwarf 'Katie' (1'-2') puts all her effort into setting seeds and spewing them everywhere.
