Hello
I have a tree i need an ID on. This is the most invasive tree i have ever seen in the 7 stated i lived in. I dont think it is native to florida (where I am) This tree is the easiest for propagate you put any size stick in the ground and it will grow. I have seen one grow 30-40 feet high in one summer. I have had sucker trees everywhere. they seek out any water source ( my fruit trees and septic fields now) i know these roots will grow over 200 feet and along its way it will put up sucker trees. I have dug uf 40 feet of root and along the root there where 10 trees.
I was told this tree is one they use to reforest clear cut lands due to its fast and easy plat grow and reproductive tendency's
i have used every known chemical on these suckers and mother tree and it kills the sucker BUT with in a few days more are coming up. The mother tree will wilt and drop leaves but will bounce back. I dug up all the roots in a 30 foot row and put them in a bucket with round up constraint poison ivy killer AND 2 other weed killer super concentrate, these roots where still attached to mother tree. in 2-4 days 1/2 the tree died and 1/2 lived. the neighbor replanted it and its threatening my septic Fields and killing my citrus trees taking all the moisture out of the ground. the roots seem to be fairly close to the surface . here are several pics of leaves and trees
leaf
this tree is 8 months old and was just a sucker and is at least 8 feet tall
small suckers under fruit tree and killing it
tree next to fence 30 feet from me and im 50 feet from mother tree and see some under fruit tree
more suckers under another fruit tree
i have more then 150 of these sucker plants and they multiply out of control if you pull the tree it will leave a piece of root and before you know it its back with vengeance
please help me figure out how to kill them and keep from coming back also. Also what the h**l is this tree called???
thanks for any help
mike
