Waking up this fine July 1 morning, I found quite a few treasures blooming for the first time.

Here is the lovely 'Anastasia'. This first bloom is easily 9 inches across and looks just as beautiful in person as it does in photos.

Next in my line-up is 'Silver Scheherazade'. This pale cream beauty has a very light licorice fragrance. You can see my vegetable trellises in the background.

'White Henryi' also opened its first bloom today. Only two out of three bulbs sprouted this year and the plants are short (24 inches tall) with only two buds each. Still, the flower has a warm glow from within that is truly special. I hope my plants will come back more vigorously next season.

Another new kid on the block is 'Leslie Woodriff'. This one is 5 feet tall in its first season with 5-9 buds per stem. I think I will like this one a lot in the future. The petals have not yet reflexed on this one.

Very similar to the above but with slightly deeper colors and slightly wider petals is 'Sarabande'. This one is 3.5-4 feet tall in its first season, also with 5-9 buds per stem. Petals are just starting to reflex in this bloom. A charmer for sure!

Here is an unexpected surprise. In early May I ordered a single bulb of 'Eurydice' for propagation from The Lily Garden. I removed half the scales and planted the remainder. The plant is short (12 inches tall) but has managed to produce this single lovely bloom.

My orange tiger lilies and 'Citronella' are starting to look like hovering space ships.

Here is a scene with the Asiatic hybrid 'Red Velvet'. The alliums are dried heads of 'Gladiator' that have been spray painted a shocking metallic cobalt color. A bit tacky, yes, but I am enjoying it for now.

The Aurelian hybrid 'Madame Butterfly' (Mak) is still opening many blooms. I love this one!

Here is my raised bed with 'Anastasia'. There are many good things to come in this bed with many more 'Anastasia' developing and many Lilium speciosum (both rubrum and album) forming buds.
