On the Barbados Horticultural Society display at this years Chelsea Flower Show were these clearly labeled Cocos nucifera, they appear to be fruits! I know it is the coconut palm and we get coconuts in the UK, and indeed in some places like Kew gardens they grow, plus in many homes as houseplants as well. We do get green coconuts for sale as well to eat, but they are from India. Normal brown coconuts are common here, but yellow ones with bits sticking out! Are they just ripening or something else?
Here they are on the Barbados beach at Chelsea.
Thanks.
Neil.
