Evan, I got the worm killer plant last summer at Tropiflora. They had them on sale and I was looking for interesting foliage plants for my shady border area. It has beautiful wavy, shiny foliage it kept through the fall then died back and disappeared when we had a few cold nights. I feared the worst, but kept it mulched and it popped up as good as new again this spring. It's called "worm killer" apparently because it's one of those folk 'cures' that indigenous people used to use for intestinal parasites. Not because it kills earthworms.

Last year the flowers it had when I got it made seeds, and I do have several healthy pups - actually seedlings - that I have potted up separately. This year it flowered beautifully again in April, but the flowers didn't set any seed. Sadly, the mother plant in the pics really suffered from too much water when TS Debby came through in June and we had over 12in. of rain in 3 days, so it is languishing badly and not putting up any new leaves. I have it in a very loose mix in a large pot, but it still couldn't drain fast enough.

Tropiflora had them on for their weekly VIPP special again a few weeks ago, so if you're wanting one, they are available. Or, I'll be glad to send you a seedling when the weather's cooler, for postage. It's very likely a nice tropical for growing up north, since even here it does go dormant for the winter. Should be fine kept barely moist in a cool basement over winter.
