We arrived in Florida on Dec. 22 and much to my dismay, all of my nuns orchids were sporting black leaves due to having been exposed to freezing temperatures twice during the first part of December.
After consulting with Dan at E.F.G. Orchids, he told me that if the bulbs were still firm, they should be okay. I cut the leaves down to the green as he advised, and we brought them inside. I now see small shoots of green emerging --- there is still hope! We had debated when leaving FL the first of November if we should bring them into the house, however, felt that if we did that, they would perish from lack of water. It is my hope that next year around this time, I will be enjoying their beautiful blooms.
