Dear Lynn, we have much stagnant water and it is too cold for mosquitoes here! It is too cold at the moment for most things, even us! We do have wasps that sting if you annoy them enough and they are a gardeners occupational hazard, but a swat with a glove normally sorts one of them out! No Rabies at all, anywhere and yes Adders are small and rare. That was my fault though as they are very well camouflaged and I stood on it.
We do have water snakes and they are small and non venomous, but they too are rare.
Slowworms look like a tiny snake, but they eat insects and are not a true snake, again rare.
Dragonflies are beautiful and we have a lot of them in the summer. Migrating and native butterflies are also everywhere in gardens.
Kingfisher are migratory and they are just down the road from us; beautiful in their blue and orange plumage when out fishing!
Otters we have, they eat fish as well as herons.
Swans in abundance from everywhere, and also most of the migratory geese and wading birds on our saltmarshes.
Badgers, red foxes, wild boar but not your sort we have.
