I think I might be able to explain the plants liking warm water for their drink, though it is probably obvious to you LariAnn. I live in Tumaco, Colombia as you know, & have noted that when it rains during the day the rain water is significantly warmer than in the United States in any state I have lived in including Florida. The water was almost the local temperature (around 74 degrees) when it hit the ground. I would surmise that this is a favored drink to the tropical plants such as this Alocasia. When it rains in the evening here the water is only slightly cooler than this. I will get a thermometer & do some research on this as my time here passes. Smiling Angel
