Most of the rocks I have here are smooth, what we call field stone, tumbled and left by the glaciers. They come in all sizes and shapes, flat to bowling balls. There are also ledgestones and granite, If you've ever seen pictures of old stone walls in New England they are typically made from fieldstone. I tend to pick out ones that have a shape/outline that speaks to me. Some look like bunnies, cats, frogs...ever play that game as a kid where you look at the clouds and "see" something in their shape?.... I think I spent waaay to much time outside as a kid.... Whistling
There's a huge stone dug out by the backhoe when we cleared some trees, to me it looks like a lifesize deer laying down. Wish I had a picture of it but DH has stacked firewood over it. For a few years I have been trying to figure out how to move it to the garden so I can paint it....he figures outa sight outa mind.... Smiling
Grew up just north of Boston, next time you're up this way, especilly during bloom season, you should try to come up. About 2 1/2 hr drive.
