These are tough plants. Over two months ago I cut away the pot from the vines and stuck the pot with the roots in the greenhouse. I was mildly surprised to see the cut vines still green and blooming 2 weeks later. I was dumbfounded to see half of them still growing and blooming a month later. It's now over two months and I'm seeing seed pods!!!!! I have checked and double checked to see if any of the vines are in the ground and couldn't find any. They are literally living off the air.
I'm not sure if I should be admiring or scared! Apparently you can't kill these plants .. The few vines that are still green are wrapped around the stems of some Clerodendrum. I'm wondering if they might be parasitical, getting its water from the Clerodendrum though I do not see any kind of root structure on the Asarina when I unwind them.
Has anyone else seen anything like this before?
Here are some pictures .. the first is of pods that definitely were not there when I cut the pot away. The 2nd is a bloom taken today. All that dead stuff in the background is Asarina.
