That was a part of my motivation as well, Debra. I'd look at them in the store and think, uh-uh, not paying that for an onion. Green Grin! I don't know why I didn't grow them in containers before we moved here, but I am now determined to keep a large container on the deck at all times as well as some in the ground. The issue of planting in the ground with Bermuda grass was actually another factor in the decision to grow them in containers. That's the only beneficial thing that cussed grass has ever done for me. I never thought I'd even come up with one. Ha! Smiling
I garden for the pollinators.
