Noel, I don't think it is an orchid. The flower form is wrong, as is the stem/leaf configuration.

Closest thing I see is a plant commonly sold here as "Phillippine violet" aka Barleria cristata. It is in Acanthaceae. There's no picture in the Plant Database on this forum, but on another forum I found both purple and white flower forms that look very similar.

It's a nice plant, and as I recall makes a pretty little shrub in time.
