I have been in the 'regional' thread for my area and decided it was high time to 'wander' around
.......... I live in SW Oregon and am primarily a fruit and vegs type gardener ( Hello, my name is Tracy, and I am a tomato addict) ............. We also have a small production flock of hair sheep ( Dorpers and a couple Dorper x ewes) I am lookin' forward to my girl's first lambing, 'should' start around the middle of March
In November I bought my first LGD pup ( Livestock Guardian Dog ) Her name is Txiki Txiki ( say Cheeky Cheeky, it is Basque for 'tiny/small baby') She is 1/2 Spanish Mastiff, 1/4 Anatolian and 1/4 Maremma, 4 1/2 months old and 50# ....Raising her is so very 'different' than the labs or herding dogs we've had....... I live in an area that is heavily populated with predators and have been tremendously 'lucky' in the last few yrs......... We also raised fair hogs for 4H up until last yr...... I suspect we will continue to have the 'occasional' pig, NOTHIN' like 'home grown' ..... I MUCH prefer KNOWING 'what' is in my food.............
