Hi Arlene ! I am from Argentina, and as far as I know, there are several kinds of alstroemerias. I grow alstroemeria psittacina. It is an alstroemeria native to Argentina and it grows like weed here. New plants grow from the seeds that fall on the soil, even if nobody takes care of them.
All the foliage disappears during the winter and it grows again during the Spring.Thumb of 2013-03-18/ceci/2b07ff
