After a few years I have a new seedling blooming. The original tag has been long lost, so I don't know the parentage other than that it's a cybister-type seedling. I think the seed parent may have been 'Chico', as that was one of the first (if the first) canisters I had.

At any rate, after three or four years of waiting for blooms, I was so excited to finally see a bloom stalk emerge. Then when it was about halfway grown, "something" mysteriously broke it off. No one in my home has yet fessed up. I immediately stuck in in a bud vase and crossed my fingers. About 10 to 12 days later this first bloom opened! I think it may have developed a little more color if it had been able to develop fully on the bulb, but otherwise I really like it. It's a nice pale green with just a hint of burgundy or dark red deep in the throat and at the outside base of each petal. Unfortunately, the other buds won't have the chance to develop as the stem is about kaput. Thumb of 2013-03-26/Carter/a031cc
