I like your idea, Abhedge. I've thought of that before, using fishing line to hang a 2nd pot from a first. I think you might have been picturing something a little different, I love unusual ideas, feel free to elaborate!
I've looked at the little local mom'n'pop store, and even asked about replacement hangers but nobody has them. The lady at the garden store said she can't buy a small amount of them without the pots. Amazon.com doesn't have them. They do sell a ready-made chain setup for $3 each. I can buy a new pot for $2. LOL!
I think florist wire may be a solution, very inexpensive, strong, much easier to deal with than tying off fishing line, can twist pieces together to make whatever length I want...
Really gone nuts this year with hanging pots. Sick if digging up grass for new places to plant stuff, and new smothers need to remain undisturbed for a while. So I got a bunch of hooks to hang pots other places besides front porch. Have some hanging from low limbs in various places also. Put a few hooks on the giant pecan tree trunk outside computer window and am LOVING looking at them! Also have a couple to decorate the front of our dog house (which looks like a little shed, he's a great Dane.) No pot with hanging holes will sit on the ground this year!
