Excellent advice, Gigi, will take it, too. Almost lost an Oahu Star this week, I don't know why, the middle just got thinner and thinner (wasp-waisted) and it became soft, too. So I cut way above that part, and used a rooting hormone with fungicide, on the cutting, which I'm allowing to callus, again in the hope of saving it. May wrap it as you suggest, as well, since it's wrinkling a little, too....
Hope that does the trick!
