I had something called Transient Global Amnesia. I knew who I was, and everyone around me, but I didn't know what had happened a few minutes before. And I kept repeating questions to DH. I knew something was wrong with me, but I wanted to ask my nurse neighbor what she thought, so I wanted to wait until I thought she was up. Apparently she and DH threw me in the car and took me to the hospital as soon as she talked to me. I knew they were going to the wrong hospital and told them, but I couldn't remember how many times I told 'em (a Lot). 'Neighbor was pretty sure I was having a stroke. She kept asking me to squeeze her hand. At the hospital, they waved us on in to the emergency room beds....no waiting. I think I was "swarmed" with doctors and nurses. After all the x-rays (in bed), IV, and a trip to the x-ray lab....the neurologist said I did not have a stroke or a TIA, I had TGA. And it would probably never happen again...ever. They kept me a couple of days for more tests...EEG and a brain scan and lots of blood work...but everything was good and healthy. The 'episode' lasted about 5 or 6 hours. I was told I'd probably never remember that morning, even tho little pieces might come back.

I've never heard of TGA, but I sure read up on it when I got home. I don't seem to have any ill effects. Just a mystery!
I now wonder about people who drive off to visit someone and wind up in a different town and have no recollection of going there. Is that what could be TGA? Who knows.

I'm very grateful to my neighbor for not wasting any time...in case it was a stroke, and the doctors and nurses couldn't have been better. I don't think I was ever scared....if I was...I don't remember!
