I feel so technically dumb I don't even know how to help you. Firefox works fine for me; I have a Mac and for blogs and articles I had to switch to FF because nothing else worked. I'm wondering if you have disabled every search engine except FF?? That might help. Turn off Safari and Chrome and just go with FF and try again.
