I thought I'd share this info from Leftwood on the Asiatic Lilies thread:

"Botanically speaking, there are more than a dozen different terms describing plant hairs, each with its own meaning.
Pubescence is much tinier, very very short hair surface.
Those on lilies are most accurately described as pilose.
That said, "real" people just say fuzzy, hairy or pubescent. I'm good with that."
