Nice podcast, especially on a dreaded topic such as "HEAT" in the garden. Yikes!

Glad to hear mention of "don't water so fast there is run-off"; the recommendation to allow the water to slowly percolate down is sage advice. I can't remember if over-head watering was mentioned (hey, it was five or 6:am this morning when I started listening, pre-coffee time) but I hope people give it up and move to soaker hoses or drip tape for best results, especially in veggie beds and small flower beds. As for those drooping 20' crepe myrtles, ya just gotta do the best you can with what you have to work with in those cases. And keep in mind to not water the trunk of trees (again, a common mistake) but to water the outer area just inside the dripline of the canopy. I sure hope ya'll don't go thru another big time drought like last year (or year before) where you lost established trees.

Whew, all that talk of 100ยบ temps has me heading to the fridge for a cold drink of something! Keep in mind us gardeners need to be well watered also and perhaps "overhead watering" is the one time I'd recommend it...run through the sprinklers with your children! Have a water hose fight! Sneak up behind your parents and dump a bucket of water on them. (You hear me, Whitinger kids?) Whistling And water balloons are fun, too!

Well done, Dave and Trish.
Thanks!
Shoe
